It is my great privilege to welcome you to the Heritage of Military Music.com It is the website of my dear friend, and fellow musician, Jack Kopstein.
I have known Jack for about a decade now, and in many roles. He and I have served on boards together, played in pit orchestras together, and have played in bands and small ensembles of all kinds. I have even played under him while he conducted some of his own compositions. Currently he and I get together and play clarinet duets regularly.
While age might have affected his night vision somewhat, he remains at the core the same funny, loveable character he has always been. His wit and intellect are as sharp as ever, and his comedic timing is pretty much on the mark as well.
That is the Jack Kopstein I know, and the man that I have worked with for the last decade.
Therefore it wasn’t at all surprising when he asked if I could help him set up a website. Jack has kept up with much of the new tech, and is more familiar with the music notation software than I am. He is familiar with content management systems, and has managed numerous websites in the past.
Once Jack is up and running on this new platform, my role will be mostly keeping things pretty looking and locked down from a security perspective. This way all Jack has to do is do what he does best: Continue to write about the history of military and paramilitary music and musicians from around the world.
Think of this site as an extension of his book, The World Book Of Military Music And Musicians, which is available on Amazon.ca . Jack will be adding to this site from the vast amount of content and knowledge he has on the topic, but that was not possible to include in the book due to space constraints.
